Capturing an image on your laptop’s screen while it is operating may be critical for some tasks. For instance, if your laptop appears to be malfunctioning and presenting you with unfamiliar error instructions, capturing a snapshot of the problem prompts might aid you in contacting a technical specialist.
Additionally, screenshots may be used to show step-by-step operations for training or elaboration purposes.
After all, a picture is worth a thousand words, and viewing a snapshot of a screenshot enables people to quickly recognize what you’re attempting to communicate without the need for excessive words.
To take a screenshot with an HP laptop, you must complete the following procedures:
Step 1 –
On your keyboard, there is an “Fn” key that you must press and hold down solidly. While holding down the “Fn” key, push the “Home Prt Sc” button located on the right-hand side of your keyboard near the numeric keypad. This enables you to capture a full screen as a screenshot.
If you want to take a screenshot of an active window, you must first press and hold the “Fn” and “Alt” keys, followed by “Home Prt Sc”.
Step 2 –
Once the screenshot is obtained, it is stored in the memory of your laptop. What you now need to do is locate a media for transferring that screenshot. Using a program such as Microsoft Paint (which is in the Accessories tab of your Start menu).
Step 3 –
Once the Microsoft Paint application is open, all you have to do is click on the “Paste” icon in the upper left corner. To paste a picture, hold down the “Ctrl” key and then hit the “V” key.
Step 4 –
At this point, you can trim and alter the image to your liking. Once complete, click the “Work” button followed by the “Save As” option to save your file. Give the file a name and specify the location for the screenshot. You have the option of storing the file on an internal or external hard disk.
Congrats! You’ve just captured a screenshot of your HP Laptop – and safely stored it.
